Being a Vegetarian

Becoming a vegetarian seems hard to some people, but it is relatively easy and has great rewards. Vegetarians are healthier than non-vegetarians, and suffer from fewer diseases. Because they have fewer diseases, they tend to have a longer life. Becoming a vegetarian is a wonderful lifestyle choice.
People become vegetarians for many different reasons. They might not like the taste of meat, or they become one because of their love for animals. Other people become one for environmental concerns, weight loss, or weight maintenance. Almost all people on Earth have one of those characteristics, which should push everyone to the idea of becoming a vegetarian. Though not everyone becomes one for the same reason, they can all agree that it is a wonderful lifestyle to live.
Cutting out meat in your diet is beneficial to your health. Non-meat eaters are 50 percent less likely to get a heart disease than meat eaters and also have a 40 percent less likely chance of getting cancer. Vegetarians also have a better immune system since they eat more fruits and vegetables. Due to their immune system being better, they do not get sick as often as non-vegetarians and have a lower chance of getting cancer. Meat eaters have a nine times greater chance of being obese that a vegetarian, because they eat more fats that are found inside meats. Vegetarians are relatively healthy people and tend to live six to ten years longer than meat eaters.
Vegetarianism not only helps you, but it helps the environment. Eating one pound of meat gives off the same amount of greenhouse gases as driving an SUV for 40 miles. So if someone ate a pound a day for a year, he would be giving off as much greenhouse gas as driving an SUV for over 14,000 miles. This, in return, will slowly, but surely, kills our planet. So if more people became vegetarians, then our world would have a lower chance of global warming.
People oftentimes do not want to be vegetarians because of their love for meat. But there are so many alternatives out there, so that they can still have meat, just not real meat. There are tons of faux meats that are made out of soy and other non-meat ingredients. These products oftentimes have different tastes and textures to real meat, but it helps vegetarians out when they have that craving for meat. Fake meat sounds disgusting to some people but it is not half bad.
Vegetarianism is a hard lifestyle choice to make, because you must have a lot of willpower to do it and you must have people to help support you the whole way through. Becoming a vegetarian can be difficult, long, rough, and a journey, but overall it is a relatively great decision to make and it is also very rewarding. Everyone should be one if he wishes to have a long, healthy life.
